HLA typing

The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex contains the most polymorphic genes in the human genome. The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex is located on chromosome 6p21 and is key factor for determining the antigenic specificities of the adaptive immune response.

The high polymorphism of HLA gene increases the challenge in sequencing HLA gene. NGS based HLA typing have been used in obtaining high throughput and accurate typing.Ā 

HLA typing can provide a valuable information and help to select donors to provide the safest tissue transplants in solid organĀ orĀ hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. HLA typing is also used in reproductive health to help couples with Recurrent Implantation Failure (RIF).Ā
